General Details for Train Detection and Monitoring Perimeter Security
Train detection and monitoring systems provide a reliable, multi-layered safety and security solution designed to monitor train movement, detect unauthorized access, and prevent operational disruptions along railway tracks and critical rail infrastructure. The system uses fiber-optic–based sensing technology for real-time detection of train movement, vibration, and track-side activities. Combined with intelligent surveillance, secure monitoring systems, and centralized command-and-control, it ensures continuous tracking, rapid incident response, improved rail safety, and efficient railway operations.
FR-302
Train Detection and Monitoring

The FR302 Train Detection and Monitoring System provides long-range rail corridor monitoring (up to 100 km per controller) with precise event location (± 5 meters). The technology is based on fiber-optic Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) with advanced AI-based classification, enabling continuous monitoring of railway tracks and surrounding corridors.
The system delivers real-time detection, classification, and tracking of train movement and rail-related activities, improving operational safety, asset protection, and railway security across long distances.
Smart Trackside Installation
A single-mode fiber-optic sensing cable is installed along the railway track, either attached to existing cable routes, laid beside the rail line, or integrated within trackside infrastructure.
Every vibration and acoustic event generated by rail movement or nearby activity is analyzed in real time by the FR302 controller, which generates classified alarms and precise location data.
The system detects:
- Train movement and approach
- Train speed and direction
- Rail vibrations and wheel movement
- Trackside disturbances
- Unauthorized access near tracks
This enables railway operators to perform rapid assessment and timely operational decisions.
Smart Buried Rail Corridor Monitoring
A fiber-optic cable can also be buried along railway corridors at a typical depth of 0.3 m to 1.5 m to provide invisible and tamper-proof monitoring.
The system detects:
- Human footsteps near railway lines
- Manual digging near tracks
- Machine excavation activity
- Vehicle movement near rail corridors
- Ground disturbances affecting rail safety
The buried installation provides continuous protection in remote or open railway sections where fencing is not available.
AI-Based Event Classification
The FR302 does not only detect activity — it intelligently classifies events using advanced artificial intelligence, including:
- Train movement
- Track vibration patterns
- Human footsteps
- Manual digging
- Machine digging
- Vehicle movement
- Heavy equipment operation
- Trackside intrusion
- Maintenance vs. unauthorized activity
This AI classification ensures high detection accuracy with very low nuisance alarms, even in noisy railway environments.
